SUSTAINABLE URBAN REORGANIZATION IN MILAN
The project design was prepared for the MultiComfort competition from Saint-Gobain for a sustainable urban reorganization of the Crescenzago district. The area is located northeast of the city center, on the main highway and subway line, and the central train station is also nearby. It houses a large office center and a sports stadium.
As a result of the analysis of the site, some problems were identified. The morphology and distribution of residential houses are uneven. Despite the large area and active landscaping, there is no developed general public space. There is a deficiency of communication paths, which disrupts the comfortable and safe functioning of the area. To reduce the negative factors and reorganize the space into a full-fledged and well-functioning one, firstly, an integrated approach was applied. It consists of a fusion of three designated areas in terms of aesthetics, function and scale. To harmoniously integrate new functional groups, we have resorted to identifying the existing building grid. And it was used as the formative element. This method allowed us to create a harmonious environment and not conflict with the scale of the existing environment.
